Bintan nightlife options may be small in numbers, but these select spots around the island offer great evening escapes. There are bars that welcome you into wonderful settings, such as ‘floating’ sensations on wooden platforms connected to the coast by a jetty to beachfront bars with sea views and sunset backdrops. Most venues are attached to fine resorts in the beautiful Lagoi Bay on the north coast, but some are down in the main town of Tanjung Pinang.
In Bintan’s capital, you can head to a long-running nightclub that features weekly themed highlights with the best resident DJs in town spinning everything from urban beats to house and electronica. Nightlife in Bintan is indeed low key, but these options prove that you have a range of experiences to choose from. Whatever your preference, check out these options first when you plan to go out as the sun goes down over this popular island destination.
The Dope Club is a focal point for nightlife in Bintan’s capital of Tanjung Pinang. In fact, it’s the one and only nightclub in town. Particularly serving a local partying scene, you can see a good mix of Bintan residents and expatriates among the crowd as well. Living up to its name, some nights can get a little bit wilder than others, with quality audio systems handling deep bass and all that their team of resident and sexy lady DJs feed through them from their booth. Despite being small for a nightclub it sure makes for a fun and friendly party. You can expect longer queues on weekends, and you can make advanced bookings for tables and sofas as well. There are different weekly themes throughout the week, such as ‘Urban Groove’ on Tuesdays and ‘Saturdance’ on Saturdays.

Part of the Nirwana Gardens beach resort complex, Calypso offers a rather toned down nightlife scene as it lets you escape to a secluded spot with soft reggae and calypso music playing in the background. Signature cocktails to help you wind down include the Mexican Mojito (IDR 155,000) and Calypso’s Apocalypso ‘Bintan Sling’.
